Wake County said it has permanently protected 32 additional acres of farmland in the Marks Creek area near the Town of Wendell. The county said the conservation easement will keep the property in agricultural use and prevent future development.

The farm is located in eastern Wake County and is adjacent to the Bailey and Sarah Williamson Preserve, a 447-acre public nature preserve owned and managed by the Triangle Land Conservancy.

On Saturday, June 13, the Triangle Land Conservancy will host the second annual Land and Harvest Festival at the Williamson Preserve. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m., with a farmers market, live music, food, and guided hikes, and the conservancy will offer tours of the 32-acre farm Wake County helped protect.
